Our Story

The beginning

In 1999, Bruce Westenskow and Brennon Garrett created Odyssey Web, a web development company that operated out of a 350-square-foot basement. When the Internet bubble burst a year later, Bruce partnered with 22-year-old college student Phil Hansen and moved to the 13th floor of the Walker Center to revive their business. In 2001, James Clarke founded Clearlink in his fiancée’s basement. Clearlink merged with Odyssey Web in 2003 and adopted the performance-based business model it became known for.

A True Partnership

Since adding DISH as its first partner in 2003, Clearlink has continued to build valuable partnerships with household names, including ADT, HughesNet, CenturyLink, AT&T, Verizon, Frontier, and Windstream.

In 2013, the company expanded its offering and partnered with Travelers, Progressive, and Safeco. The growth has continued in recent years with the addition of Plymouth Rock, SIRVA, The General, Infinity, and Dairyland to the Clearlink brand mix.

Opportunity for All

In 2011, private equity partner, Pamlico Capital, invested in Clearlink’s vision, enabling the company to continue its exponential growth and drive hundreds of thousands of acquisitions for its brand partners. A year later, Clearlink reached 1,000 employees and added a second location, opening an office in Orem, an hour south of its Salt Lake HQ at the International Business Center. Clearlink continues to create hundreds of Utah jobs annually.

Commitment to Excellence

Since being listed as one of Utah’s Top 100 by MountainCapital Network in 2007, Clearlink and its employees have been recognized for numerous achievements. The company has made the INC 500 list seven times and the Utah Business Fast 50 list eight times.

For its unparalleled culture, Clearlink received national recognition from Outside Magazine as one of the “100 Best Places to Work” and Workplace Dynamic’s “Top 15 Places to Work” list. The company has also been designated as one of the “Best Places to Work” in Utah by Utah Work/Life.

In 2013, CEO Phil Hansen was named a finalist for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award. In the years before and since, Clearlink employees have been featured numerous times by Utah Business. The magazine included Phil Hansen on its “40 Under 40” list and awarded Ben Henderson “CFO of the Year” and Sam Funk “CXO of the Year.” Their “30 Women to Watch” list has included Mauri Love and, more recently, Cammie Cable and Jessica Jones.
